Art Venues

After a very good dinner at a Amok, a restaurant known of the Cambodian dish with the same name, a stroll down the alley brought us to the McDermott Gallery. The beautiful images of the Angkor temples first attracted me to this gallery. The images carried a resemblance to images created with traditional infared film. In the back of the store was an exhibit on illegal residents in Myanmar by a photojournalist. Surpisingly, there is a whole group of art galleries sprinkled around Siem Reap. If we had arrived earlier, we would’ve even caught the photo festival (angkorphotofestival.com)! If you ever plan to visit, pick up the gallery guide at the McDermott Gallery (mcdermottgallery.com). - JuAnne
